A Wish List for 2011

Congratulations to Kathy ~ winner of Veronica's giveaway!

A Wish List for 2011

Not necessarily in this order, these are the things I wish for in the coming year:

  1. A repeat Emmy win for Kyra Sedgwick of The Closer, one of the few shows on the boob tube that makes me laugh.
2. And speaking of things that make me laugh, continued success, including excellentratings for Hawaii 5-0. Scott Caan may be short but he's got a look in his eye that's just like his father.

3. A World Series win for the Texas Rangers and my personal heroes Josh Hamilton and and Nolan Ryan.

4. A short, tepid winter for Western New York State. Prolonged sub-zero temps and snow fall in excess of 100 inches are getting old. Either that, or my bones and muscles are too worn for this crap.

5. Somewhere in my travels, I find the perfect hot dog. If anyone reading this list has a suggestion, I'm ready, willing and able to hear it.

6. Continued growth for Lilac City Rochester Writers, my home fiction writers group. As out-going president, I wish each member success, as they define it, while they travel their writer's journey.

7. A decent offensive line for the Buffalo Bills who at this moment in time could not rush against my four grandchildren.

8. And speaking of gifts from above, I wish that my grandchildren, Meredith, Ashlin, Owen and Kieran continue to thrive and grow in peace and love.

9. Continued success for Decadent Publishing.

10. That my cable company keeps the Fox Network available. My Sunday afternoons won't be the same without Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Jimmy whatshisname. If they drop the Fox network, I'll have to find something else to do on Wednesday nights because I won't get to drool over the hero on a show called “Human Target”. Now there's hunk if I've ever seen one.

  5. I wish for better health for a number of my friends who are ill, for good fortune for those in the service of our country, for better news in the economy of both our country and our states, less unemployment. For myself personally, I wish for better luck with my garden. LOL

  7. In answer to your request for the perfect dog, they are served each Canada Day at Dinner Bay Park on beautiful Mayne Island--so my husband reports, as I'm a fish eating vegetarian.
Among my wishes for 2011--that my soon-to-be Decadent published thriller finds a readership. : )

  9. Wow - I'm right next door to you (Syracuse) and wish for a warmer winter too, though rumor has it the snow is coming tomorrow!

Thanks for sharing your wishlist. I'm going to have to look up your writing group. Are you still going to participate even though you are not president?

LOL - You sure gave me a lot to comment about. My wish is for continued growth in my writing. I would dub myself a seedling right now!

    Happy New Year ~ Miranda

  11. First thing, I agree with you about Sean Caan. He's got the same fiesty spirit as his dad.

As for the perfect hot dog, there's a little place in Carteret, NJ, called Tommy's. He has steady customers that stand in line to be able to sample an Italian hot dog. There's also another Tommy's in Cape May, NJ. The Tommy there is not related, but he serves outrageous hot dogs with gourmet toppings. Either one of them will tantalize your taste buds.

  16. I love your idea of New Years Wishes. Mine revolve around tv--I wish I could afford more channels (although there probably will still be nothing on), and that my favorite shows come back again next year.

For my family, I just want their work related accident settlement to be resolved after three and a half years of waiting. They have been so close to foreclosure so many times, had utilities shut off, and not eaten many nights, which happens when you're physically damaged and unable to work.

So I have one little hope and one big hope for 2011.

  17. Veronica ~ don't listen to those other hot dog lovers! The best dogs are at Nathan's in New York. I'm sure the other dogs are great, but these dogs saved my poor husband and I from starvation one time, LOL. We were in college and gone to the city on a wing and a prayer, and ran out of money (yeah, going to NYC with $35 was not smart but we were young). We had no money left and found a Nathan's coupon, buy one get one for 5 cents ~ and all the toppings it could hold. Let's just say, those two hot dogs were like Thanksgiving dinner! LOL. I still love hot dogs to this day and I've had my share. But Nathan's...yum!!

  19. Veronica, thank you for the good wishes!

I agree about Scott Caan, I actually am a fan of his and his dad.

I am a Hebrew National girl, myself, but I found the BEST dogs at the San Genero fest in NYC. Smothered and yummy. WHAT IS BETTER than a street dog in NYC?!?

  20. I wish for my daughter to find a good job that will help her take care of her and the kids and not worry about not making enough for bills.

Nice pic of Scott Caan. :)
