Before DH and I moved out to Las Vegas, we’d visit the city on a regular basis. When we finally made the decision to relocate, we came out over a Thanksgiving weekend to look at homes. Talk about turkey overload. Hubby and I went to two different buffets that day! The first one was around lunch time. We ate at the Carnival World Buffet overat the Rio. Lots of food, great seafood and of course we had our share of the Tom bird. Later that day, actually into the evening when we realized we were hungry again (yes, hours later…lol!) we went to the buffet in the hotel we were staying in and had a second Turkey day meal. I’m amazed we didn’t pass out at the table or have to be rolled out of the dining area! During our visit to where would soon become our hometown, we drove around getting the lay of the land. Here’s a pic of what once was the 215 – Summerlin Parkway interchange.Since that trip, the highways have been redone, and there’s no traffic light to contend with. Yay! Now that we live here, we’ve found different buffets to eat at, or if friends are available, we have dinner at their house or ours. This year we’re the hosts.

Then there’s the December holiday season. A tree is put up downtown. The Bellagio has their Conservatory & Botanical Gardens done up in a holiday theme
Other casinos and business gussy themselves up in the spirit of the season, too. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the weather is absolutely gorgeous!
And, let’s not forget New Year’s! One year hubby, my sister and I braved the downtown area for the New Year’s Eve party. Thousands of people. Lots of booze. Two stages with different bands playing. It was an event! And, while over the strip fireworks went off at midnight, downtown had the light show playing on the Fremont Experience canopy (warning, there’s sound with this link: http://www.vegasexperience.com/)
See? Las Vegas can be an interesting place to live, and it’s not all about the gaming. :)
Granted, now that we live in a place that we used to vacation to, people wonder what we do for trips. Well, we’ve traveled for hubby’s races. I’ve traveled for writing conventions/conferences/meetings. We’ve also been on a couple of cruises. One was in the Caribbean. On that trip, we made it to Grand Cayman, spent a few hours on Seven Mile Beach and ate at a little beachfront pub, which I have ended up loosely using as the place where my two characters meet in my upcoming 1NS story, Sunset Desires. It’s sex on the beach, and I’m not talking about the drink!

**For my drawing, I’m giving away a cover flat of Sunset Desires signed by me and cover model, Jimmy Thomas. International entries are eligible.**
Happy Holidays & Safe Travels!
