Bah Humbug to the holiday chores!

by Ashlynn Monroe
I call shenanigans on the amount of work awaiting me this holiday season!  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the family, food, gifts, and memory-making but I hate to clean, cook, and shop.  Okay…maybe not shop, but I hate the mad rush for perfection.  I’m the holiday girl in the family.  I cook and plan for weeks before the big day and I shop literally all year round.  I’m the hostess with the mostest but the honorable duty is exhausting.  I started a new tradition last year.  Now I take one afternoon out of the craziness to read a good book.  This year I’m planning to switch it up and let my Kindle read to me while I relax in a nice bubble bath.

**I hope you will take a break too, and to encourage you I’d like to give you a copy of your choice of ebook from my Decadent Publishing backlist!  I’d also like to give you a special swap package.  It includes a XL t-shirt with my tag line, sparkly ornament, heart shaped sticky corkboard (for all those gift lists), 2012 calendar magnet, small magnet, personal invitation to visit my website, signed postcard, and a pink fuzzy sticky feet computer pal, perfect for keeping you company while you shop for books.  Just comment on this blog about what you’re going to do to stay sane this holiday season and take a few “me time” moments.**

Here are the blurbs of my DP books.  I hope that if you’re going to be give e-readers this holiday season you’ll include one of my books for the reading enjoyment of the recipient.  If you have an e-reader on your gift list, I hope you’ll add one of my titles to your library.  Visit to see my full backlist of titles.  I’d love to hear what you think at  You can follow me on twitter @ ashlynn_monroe or like my author page on facebook, just search Author Ashlynn Monroe.

  1. I'm going to run, Ashlynn. I put my headphones on and do a long loop around the estate, up the highway to where the path ends and then all the way back. I feel so much better afterwards - well when I've stopped panting and wheezing. I can lose myself in the beat of the song and the pounding of my feet. No Christmas music on my MP3 - just Robbie Williams and James Morrison.

  2. I know what you mean about cleaning. UGH! And I have less than 2 weeks to do it.

These blurbs got me interested, so I'm adding these books to my wish list.

  3. I hate the cleaning part too. That's why we adults decided that the older kids and teenagers get to do that...yes it's hard to corral them but we do...LOL
    Merry Christmas

  4. Not a fan of the cleaning or shopping. But I do like to bake. I'm the holiday baker in my family.
My shopping is already done..the planning for the baking is done. So I'm stress free already. But something will come up that will change that :)

    The books sound great.

  5. I sneak out for a walk when I need a break. Bundled to the nines of course, since it is cold, but I definitely get recharged.

  6. Yes, I hate all the chaos leading up to the holidays. It takes away from the Christmas spirit and does make you say Bah Humbug. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  7. Christmas for me is like planning a wedding. All the preparation and it's over in a day. The house is always spotless before everyone arrives and as soon as the first person enters the house it's in disarray.

  8. Everyone needs a day off. *hugs* Enjoy yours (and I will say the read-to-me feature is one big draw of the kindle LOL)

  9. I like to lock the bathroom door and soak in a tub with a good book. It's so relaxing and a perfect way to shut out the world.

I love the 1NS series. I would love to win Back In The Saddle. Thanks for the giveaway!

  10. MY favorite way to stay sane at anytime is reading. I love to just curl up, preferably in bed, and get lost in a great story.
    Have a wonderful holiday season!

  11. Well, I've stayed sane this year by reading a book in bed every night, until I couldn't keep my eyes open. Slept like a baby & was ready to face the world again the next morning.

  12. there really such a state of mind? To try and attain it, I will in 2012...put one foot in front of the other, one step at a time, breathe in, breathe out...slowly. Take long hot relaxing baths. Smile and laugh more often. Read great books...and eat good dark chocolate!
